"The house (Quinta do Crasto) has released the Xisto 2003, which is produced together with Jean-Michel Cazes from Château Lynch Bages, a Bordeaux Cru. Touriga Nacional (60%), Tinta Roriz (25%) and Barroca grape varieties are combined in this new creation which shows Crasto´s trademark: delicious and intense fruit, wrapped up in fine tannins which give the wine a silky texture evoking nice chocolate melting in the mouth, long finish marked by fruity tones and a delicate touch of oak (93/100)"
Prazeres da Mesa, Brazil, July 2006
"Look out for a new Douro red named XISTO, a Franco-Portuguese red made by the Roquette family in partnership with Bordeaux giant Jean-Michel Cazes."
"Pleasant woodland nose, sweet cherry fruit character, elevated aromatics, juicy, complete, well balanced, well made, very approachable."
Decanter, UK, February 2006
"Another red from the Douro, resulting from the union of Douro/Bordeaux efforts which shows that in the present days the old Marxist maxim can be reformulated and transformed into this one: good producers from all over the world, get together! This was what Crasto did with Jean-Michel Cazes, from Ch. Lynch-Bages. It is the International Duriense in work!
Very strong in colour, oak notes mark the wine but very ripe fruit and very attractive floral notes are also perceptible. Very round in the mouth, completely polished; it can be drunk now, the oak and the vegetable notes are noticeable; everything is well done. A great wine from the Douro, modern in style and very refined. 7/8"
Vinhos de Portugal, 2006
